Family Planning

There are now many effective choices of contraception available.

Contraception

The independent GPs are able to discuss which methods would best suit you.  Your GP can insert Implanon Implants however you do need a consultation first to discuss this method.

Your GP does not perform vasectomies however they can provide referrals and advice about the options available to have this performed in our local area.

Pregnancy advice and care:

Pregnancy care starts well before conception. Once you are thinking about planning a pregnancy, book an appointment to discuss health issues and preventative care for both the prospective parents.

If you are having difficulty becoming pregnant, your GP can help you improve your chance of conceiving or provide specialist referrals.

Once you are pregnant, it is important to have an early appointment with your GP to organise any tests and provide health advice and referrals.

Although your GP does not deliver babies, they may be involved with the Peninsula Health Shared Care Program. So that if you are going to have your baby at Frankston Hospital, you can have some of your check-ups with your GP.
